Kids Count is a program where childhood is valued and supported in a safe and healthy environment by well trained staff whose passion is caring for and educating children. Best practice interaction and teaching techniques are used to provide nurturing and learning experiences that are incorporated daily to promote growth in fine and gross motor abilities, cognition, communication and social interaction.

Each child experiences warm, personal care and developmentally appropriate opportunities for sensory, motor and language learning that is modified to accommodate individual needs and changing circumstances. From the time of enrollment, children are prepared for the increasing challenges of childhood through exposure to a developmentally appropriate curriculum, the Creative Curriculum. The play-based curriculum is best suited to meet the emerging needs, abilities and interests of young children. The curriculum provides the framework upon which experiential, hands-on activities, that are challenging and developmentally sound, are created and implemented. Activities provided help each child develop a lifelong love of learning.

A child-directed, teacher guided approach creates an environment where children are able to develop a personal sense of creativity, imagination and self-worth. Children become independent, well-rounded individuals, all of which are integral to future success and happiness.

As a program of P.G. Chambers School, Kids Count is uniquely positioned to support and educate some children with special needs. Inclusion provides an opportunity for children with disabilities to learn from typically developing peers while children without disabilities learn to understand individual differences and accept each person as a valued individual.
